Our
communities are changing rapidly
under economic pressures, weather
related disasters, government
policies and threats of terrorism.
Foundations commonly support
new program initiatives as new
social and health concerns come
to the fore.
With
this active, uncontrollable environment
within our communities, it is
imperative that nonprofits take
proactive steps to ensure mission
impact and sustainability.
Taking
the time to re-examine your agency’s
mission statement can lead to
greater impact in the community
as your agency responds to the
external environment in a positive
manner.
An
organization should re-visit
its mission every 3-5 years and
more often when there is a prominent
leadership shift or drastic changes
in funding streams are expected.
